Sign goes up as Matalan moves step closer to opening new store in Aylesbury

Matalan has moved a step closer to opening its new store in Aylesbury, after a sign for the retailer was put up overnight.

The clothing retailer is moving into one of two vacant units on the Aylesbury Shopping Park on Cambridge Street, with Home Bargains also set to open a store on the retail park.

They are replacing Poundland and B&M on the retail park, with Matalan granted planning permission in May to make mezzanine floor alterations at Unit 3.

Following the granting of planning permission by Buckinghamshire Council, the mezzanine floorspace will be increased by 509 square metres.

A planning statement detailed how Matalan was looking to increase a “long-term” lease on the building.

The proposals also state that no external changes to the building will be made during the transfer, with latest estimates suggesting there are more than 220 Matalan stores around the country.

The Bucks Herald has approached Matalan for details of when the new store will open in Aylesbury.
