£20m school with capacity for 492 pupils, including SEND provision, officially opened in Aylesbury

A £20 million primary school with places for nearly 500 children has been officially opened in Aylesbury.

Orchard View Primary Academy, in the Kingsbrook development, welcomed its first pupils in September 2025, but its official opening was marked at an event on October 26.

The school has capacity for 420 primary pupils, 60 nursery children and a 12-place specialist provision for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Carl Jackson, Buckinghamshire Council's cabinet member for education and children's services, said: "As Kingsbrook continues to grow, we are investing in high-quality school places to ensure local children can learn and thrive close to home.

"Orchard View Primary Academy provides excellent facilities, specialist support for children with additional needs, and a sustainable environment which will serve this community for generations to come."

Buckinghamshire Council said the academy would grow over the coming years as more families moved into the Kingsbrook development.

It is the third school built as part of the development, joining Kingsbrook View Primary Academy and The Kingsbrook School.

The council added that Orchard View was Buckinghamshire's first school designed to be net zero carbon in operation.

It said the school had been designed to operate without fossil fuels, incorporating solar panels, air source heat pumps, and green roofs.

The academy currently has a two-form entry design, with the potential to expand to three forms of entry if demand increases.

Jon Mason, chief executive of Inspiring Futures Partnership Trust, which operates the academy, said the school provided an environment where children could flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.

"We are incredibly proud to be part of the Kingsbrook community and look forward to seeing future generations of pupils learn, grow and succeed here," he said.
