Stewkley pub landlord granted extended stay

The landlord of a village pub who was given ten days notice to leave the premises has been granted an extended stay.

Dan Smith said he was shocked after receiving a letter out of the blue from Enterprise Inns telling him he had to leave The Swan in Stewkley.

With one of the pub’s biggest events of the year just around the corner, Mr Smith wrote to Enterprise Inns asking for more time and was given until September 6.

Mr Smith said it was ‘good news’ that Swan Fest could go ahead as planned, however he was not given a reason for the sudden U-turn.

Swan Fest, featuring ten bands in two days, takes place at the pub over the weekend of August 27 and 28.
