Loving homes needed for two adorable crossbreeds in Buckinghamshire this Adoptober

The RSPCA are searching for forever homes for a playful older dog and an affectionate 4-year-old pooch who have held on to their sweet nature despite suffering neglect.

Nine-year-old crossbread, Charlie, has come on leaps and bounds since he first arrived at the Buckinghamshire RSPCA care centre underweight in May. After putting on a few extra pounds, he is now ready for his forever home, but despite his sweet nature, he has so far been overlooked.

It comes as new data reveals that RSPCA frontline officers are dealing with an average of 410 ‘multi-animal’ incidents - involving 10 or more animals - every single month. That’s even higher than 2025, which was already a record-breaking year.

Out of the 3,280 multi-animal cases reported across England and Wales already this year - 1,468 were cat cases and 757 dog multi-animal incidents.

Across Buckinghamshire there have already been 35 incidents between January and August - and last year there were 44 in total. Many of the animals rescued from these homes have behavioural and medical needs requiring rehabilitation, often supported by vet teams at inspiring vet care.

Now, this Adoptober, in partnership with inspiring vet care, the RSPCA is urgently calling upon experienced and patient pet owners to consider helping by rehoming and fostering.

Kennel and Cattery Supervisor Lauren Atkins said: “We can’t wait to find the perfect forever home for the lovely Charlie

“Charlie may be older - but he certainly didn't get the memo and this little whipper snapper has certainly got a spring in his step!

“Charlie loves to play with his toys, running around and throwing them in the air and performing the occasional barrel roll!

“On top of that Charlie loves his treats which makes training with him a breeze. He loves learning new tricks and showing off the skills he's already learnt.”

This means Charlie is looking for active adopters who enjoy going on long walks or have an interest in training and can continue this for him in his forever home. Charlie would prefer to be the only dog in a home, without cats, and could live with children of secondary school age.

“Charlie can find new places very over-exciting so in order to help him settle in we would be looking for adopters who are willing to do some pre-adoption home visits so he can get used to his new home before the big day!

Kali is also waiting for her forever home this Adoptober. Kali is a four-year-old crossbreed who came into RSPCA after being kept in poor conditions. She was overweight and had never been walked.

“Kali is a friendly, affectionate girl who loves spending time with her people,” said Lauren.

“She enjoys human company and is happiest when she's by your side, whether that's out exploring or relaxing at home for some fuss and attention.”

She is best suited to adopters who have previous knowledge or experience with brachycephalic breeds and have a good understanding of their health problems and exercise level. She is looking for a home with children aged 12 and over and in a home with no other dogs or cats.

The RSPCA urgently needs kind and caring people to adopt and foster, so it can continue to rescue animals from heart-breaking cruelty and neglect. Visit the Find A Pet website to be matched with a new furry friend today.
