Plans for more than 1,000 new houses in Wing to be discussed at community meeting
Plans for more than 1,000 new homes in Wing are set to be discussed at a community meeting.
The meeting has been organised by the Stop Wing New Town Group, a resident-led action group formed in response to Buckinghamshire Council’s proposal to site a major new settlement in Wing.
It will be held at Wing Village Hall on August 2 at 6.30pm. Aylesbury MP Laura Kyrke-Smith and deputy cabinet member for planning at Buckinghamshire Council Michael Bracken are set to attend.
Earlier this month Buckinghamshire Council published its Regulation 19 Draft Local Plan, which identifies a 96-hectare site to the north-west of the village for a minimum of 1,630 new homes.

The proposal also includes five serviced gypsy and traveller pitches, 1,000 sq m of shops and local services, a new primary school, healthcare provision, community facilities, green infrastructure and major road schemes.
Stop Wing New Town Group says it accepts that Buckinghamshire needs more housing, and that “Wing must play some role in future growth”, but adds that it “rejects the scale of the proposed settlement”.
A petition, started by the group, calling for the Wing New Town proposal to be stopped, has attracted 1,227 signatures at the time of writing.
The group claims that the proposed development would “obliterate the rural setting of a scheduled ancient monument and Grade I listed building”, in reference to All Saints Church in the village, which dates back to the Anglo-Saxon era.
