Here’s how you can plant a tree in Aylesbury as part of county’s Tree Mission
Buckinghamshire Council is inviting residents to join one of three tree-planting events at Aylesbury in December.
The events, which are taking place at Meadowcroft Open Space, are part of the county’s Tree Mission, to plant 543,000 trees - one for every resident of Buckinghamshire.
Established in 2021, Bucks Tree Mission aims to support the council’s work to tackle climate change and improve air quality.
The tree planting events at Meadowcroft Open Space, being run by Chiltern Rangers CIC, take place on Friday 4th, Saturday 5th and Monday 7th December.
The weekday events run from 10am to 3.30pm, with the Saturday planting finishing at 1pm.
Free places can be reserved via the Eventbrite platform, with participants asked to arrive promptly for a health and safety briefing, and to dress appropriately for the weather.
The volunteer tree-planting events are part of wider woodland establishment throughout the winter, being delivered by Bucks Tree Mission.
Buckinghamshire Council’s cabinet member for environment, climate change and waste Ade Osibogun said: ‘Our winter planting events are a great opportunity to get outdoors, meet other people and make a lasting difference to your local area.
“Every tree planted takes us another step towards our Bucks Tree Mission target.
‘These trees will help improve air quality, slow surface water run-off, provide homes for wildlife and create greener, healthier places for residents to enjoy.
“You don’t need any previous experience to take part. Whether you can give a couple of hours or stay for the day, your help will be greatly appreciated.
‘I encourage residents to sign up and join us in planting a greener future for Buckinghamshire.”
