A developer is holding a consultation on its proposals for 190 new homes in the Vale village of Maids Moreton.

David Wilson Homes is preparing outline plans for up to 190 new homes on land to the west of Foscote Road and east of Walnut Drive, adjacent to Vitalograph Business Park.

The developer says Maids Moreton is identified in Aylesbury Vale District Council’s emerging Local Plan as an appropriate location to help meet the continuing need for new homes in the area, and it believes ‘the site represents a sustainable location for development’.

Emerging plans for the proposed new homes will be on display at a public exhibition taking place at Buckingham RUFC in Floyd Field, Maids Moreton, between 3pm and 8pm on Thursday November 19.

The consultation event will give people the chance to speak to members of the David Wilson Homes project team, ask questions and provide their feedback on the proposals before an outline planning application is submitted later in the year.

Ross Blumire, strategic planner for David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “As one of the larger villages in the Buckingham area of Aylesbury Vale, Maids Moreton will be expected to accommodate new development to help meet the district’s housing need, and we are confident that the Foscote Road/Walnut Drive site represents the most suitable location for the provision of high-quality private and affordable homes.

“Before we complete our planning application, however, we are keen to find out what the local community thinks about our emerging proposals. This will give us a chance to learn more about what local people regard as the key issues and concerns relating to new development in Maids Moreton – and will help us to ensure our development is the right fit for the village.

“Feedback forms will be available on the day and the comments we receive will help us to refine our proposals before we finalise and submit our planning application to the local authority. Those who are unable to attend the event will be able to view our consultation material and submit their comments online.”

The proposed development comprises up to 190 new homes, including approximately 30% affordable housing, with access from Foscote Road and Walnut Drive.

According to David Wilson Homes, the scheme includes measures to preserve trees, hedgerow and key landscape features, to retain and enhance the existing public footpath which crosses the site, and to ensure that the traffic impact of the proposed new homes does not negatively affect the local highways network.

It said financial contributions will also be agreed with the local authorities to mitigate the impact of the scheme on local facilities such as schools and healthcare services.

David Wilson Homes believes the Foscote Road/Walnut Drive site is a suitable and sustainable location for development due to its position on the edge of the existing settlement area, within walking or cycling distance of local facilities.

Further information will be available at the public exhibition and online at www.dwh-maidsmoreton.co.uk from Thursday 19th November onwards.

David Wilson Homes is seeking to submit a planning application to Aylesbury Vale District Council before Christmas.
