Successful Autumn Show for Aylesbury Garden Society

The 78th Aylesbury Gardening Society's Annual Produce Show, held earlier this Autumn at Aylesbury Grammar School, was a fantastic success.

The annual show brings together local growers, bakers, preserve makers, photographers and all-round crafty people to showcase their produce.

The show-stopping dahlias brought a fantastic splash of colour, alongside some rather impressive giant carrots, an interesting collection of cacti, and a competition for the longest runner bean train. It wasn't all about flowers and vegetables, though, with homemade honey and jam, beautiful woodcraft, photography and paintings adding plenty of variety to the displays.

The children's section was particularly colourful, with young entrants showing off their creative talents through photography, painting, decorated eggs and flower arranging. Lily Pybus, 11, won the Aylesbury Gardening Society Junior Shield for gaining the most points in the section, thanks to her tasty crispy cakes, eye-catching animal photographs, and beautiful flower arranging.

A new category, 'Wonkiest Vegetable', was a great addition to the show, demonstrating that you don't need acres of space or perfect produce to join in the fun! The Society hopes more people will join as members in 2027, and that the 79th show next Autumn will be even bigger and better than this one!

If you are interested in joining, membership costs just £4 a year, and new members are always welcome, whether you have an allotment, a garden or just a few pots on a windowsill. Find out more at aylesburygardeningsociety.co.uk.
