The group secretary vacancy is a flexible role that can make a  big impact, ensuring local people with Parkinson’s  can access activities that make a real difference to them. The secretary works alongside other committee members and is responsible for replying to emails and queries from people interested in the group, sending monthly updates to attendees of the group’s activities, and taking notes at the 8-weekly committee meetings. Training is provided and all volunteers  are supported by Parkinson’s UK staff.

Katy Slade, Area Development Manager , Parkinson’s UK, said: “The group is a lifeline for people in the local area who are living with Parkinson’s, but we rely on volunteers to help us keep these groups running.

“If you can spare up to 8 hours a month,  we’d love to welcome you to volunteer alongside the amazing people who are part of Aylesbury Group - because with your support we really can change lives.

“As well as making a big difference to people living with Parkinson’s in your local community, volunteering is a great opportunity to try something new, have new experiences, and meet new people. Join us today!”

The Aylesbury Parkinson’s UK group meets from 11am-1pm on the third Saturday of the month at Watermead Village Hall, Aylesbury, HP19 0FX. In addition to these regular meetings, the group also hosts a Parkinson’s café, and exercise classes.

Someone is diagnosed with Parkinson’s in the UK every 20 minutes and by 2050, the number of people living with the condition worldwide will double to 25 million.
