Second placed finish keeps D&T athletes on track for promotion


Host club London Heathside won the match on 369 points and Dacorum & Tring were second (310), followed by Newham & Essex Beagles (237), Biggleswade (179), Ilford (105) and Mornington Chasers (56).
The team’s good spirits were marred when sprinter Mike Smith – who cleared 1.45m when filling in in the high jump – slipped and badly damaged his knee.

Hide AdTop scorer for the ladies’ team was Lauren Evans on 17 points and for the men was Trevor Ratcliffe on 18 points.
First places for the ladies’ team were achieved by: Amber Carroll - 100m hurdles A (18.3s) and 400m hurdles A (72.7s); Lauren Evans - pole vault A (1.90m) and high jump B (1.20m); Summer Clarke - 200m A (27.6s); Sarah Grover - high jump A (1.35m).
First places for the men went to: Trevor Ratcliffe - javelin A (56.00m), discus B (29.29m) and hammer B (29.91); Shaun Wall - shot A (11.71m) and javelin B (38.65m); Chenna Okoh - 100m A (11.5s); Jack Parslow - 1500m A (4:19); Courtney Hart - long jump A (6.52m); Mark Whyte - 200m B (23.7s).
The result leaves D&T in third position in the league, going into the last match of the season, which is a home match at Jarmans Park. A win at this match should secure promotion.
