Stoke Mandeville have shut several wards after a 'handful' of patients test positive for COVID-19 today

The Healthcare Trust has informed both staff members and members of the public who have come into contact with the affected patients and they will be tested accordingly.

They have however stated, that it's business as usually at the hospital and patients and staff should continue to attend appointments normally and come into work unless advised not to.

A statement from the Trust said today: "A small number of patients at Wycombe Hospital and Stoke Mandeville Hospital have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). The patients are being cared for appropriately at the hospitals where they continue to be monitored and treated.

"Staff and others who have come into contact with the patients are being informed and advised about what precautions they may need to take.

"The wards affected are temporarily closed to new admissions and visitors. Patients affected by the temporary closures will be contacted directly.

"The Trust is following Public Health England and NHS guidance in respect of the virus and all other services are operating normally.

"Patients and staff should continue to attend appointments normally and come into work unless advised not to.”
