Sony is sharing the love this Valentine’s weekend by unlocking the PlayStation 4’s multiplayer capabilities, allowing for free and unlimited online play.

The weekend event runs from 6am this Friday, February 13, until 6am, Monday, February 16, UK time.

Access is unrestricted no matter which title you play: Grand Theft Auto 5, Far Cry 4, Dragon Age: Inquisition - or maybe that little heard of game named Destiny or Call of Duty Advanced Warfare.

PlayStation 4 is the first Sony console to require a subscription to play online, although PlayStation Plus membership also provides a bonus helping of monthly free games.

Access to these titles isn’t part of the weekend event and for that you’ll need a proper PlayStation Plus subscription.

The big release this week has been team tactical monster shooter Evolve on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Evolve is from Turtle Rock Studios, creators of Left 4 Dead and promises to bring multiplayer shooters into the next generation where four Hunters face off against a single, player-controlled Monster in adrenaline-pumping 4v1 matches.

Play as the Monster to use savage abilities and an animalistic sense to kill your human enemies, or choose one of four Hunter classes (Assault, Trapper, Medic and Support) and team up to take down the beast on the planet Shear, where flora and fauna act as an adversary to man and monster alike.

You level up to unlock new Hunter or Monster characters as well as upgrades, skins, and perks with the catchline to earn your infamy and ‘become the apex predator’.

But what promises to be the biggest release of the year so far is The Order: 1886, which is a PS4 exclusive which is out next week.

You play one of an elite band of Knights known as The Order in the London fog of Industrial Revolution protecting humanity from enemies old and new and far removed from human. Out February 20, you join a centuries-old war that will determine the course of history forever.
