New course at college alongside hospital

The college will be teaming up with the famous wildlife hospital, to provide work-based animal care training courses.

The college will help train Tiggywinkles staff, as well as advertising their courses to others who enjoy working with animals.

Les Stocker MBE, founder of Tiggywinkles wildlife hospital said: “Having offered animal care qualifications for many years at Tiggywinkles, we are so thrilled about this partnership with Aylesbury College, offering free places to 30 students each year and enabling more young people to get involved with caring for wildlife.”

Courses for students will take places at Tiggywinkles premises in Haddenham, where they will be working hands-on with a range of sick and injured wild animals.

They will be involved in cleaning, feeding, and learning handling techniques for all types of creatures, from baby birds, to swans, to deer and even a few reptiles.

The students will also learn skills such as dealing with the general public, teamwork, stock control and animal welfare legislation.
