The driver of the Arriva bus has been treated for shock and an inquest into Mr Dillow’s death will open on Friday morning.

Sgt Simon Hills from Roads Policing said: “I would like to appeal for anybody who saw the collision between the pedestrian and the bus to come forward as they may have information which can help us as we piece together the tragic events from this morning.

“We are in contact with the man’s family and supporting them through this difficult time.

“I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding as we worked at the scene, but I would urge anyone who filmed the injured man as he was being treated to carefully consider what they do with the footage especially in relation to social media and sharing of files to avoid unnecessary upset to the family.”
