Major roadworks to start in Waddesdon

The puffin crossing will replace an island in the middle of the A41 at the junction with Goss Avenue and Anstey Close, and work will take about five weeks.

During that time temporary lights will control traffic through working hours, and may be needed overnight on occasions.

The crossing is being built following representations over several years by residents about road safety, heavy traffic and the number of pedestrians, to Waddesdon Parish Council.

Funding came through a partnership between the county council local area forum, the parish council, Transport for Buckinghamshire, and Aylesbury Vale District Council, which agreed a £90,000 award from the New Homes Bonus Fund towards the installation cost.

Paul Irwin, local county councillor and deputy cabinet member for transport said: “Everyone has pulled together brilliantly to make this crossing possible - a great example of working in partnership.

“This is great news for our residents, especially older people and families, who’ll find it much easier to cross the main road.”

He added: “I appreciate there will be a little disruption while it’s being installed, and I’d ask drivers and pedestrians to bear with us while we do the work.”
