Force rated good for battling crime

Her Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary Zoe Billingham led the inspection, and found that Thames Valley, along with 23 other forces was good at preventing crime and anti-social behaviour.

She said: “I am very pleased that the force has a strong focus on providing a good service to victims

through an established commitment to neighbourhood policing. The force has allocated dedicated staff to local police areas whose primary responsibilities include preventing crime and anti-social behaviour. These police officers, PCSOs and staff are using a wide range of tactics to effectively prevent crime, reduce anti-social behaviour and keep the public safe.

“Increasingly, these tactics are based on learning about what works, which helps the force to use its resources in the most effective way. I particularly commend the force for its focus on preventing crime and anti-social behaviour from happening in the first place. The force is judged to be good in this vitally important area of policing.

“As was the case in our last inspection in 2014, the force’s capability to investigate crime is

good, as is the standard of the investigations. The force also works well in partnership to stop reoffending. The contribution made by the

force to managing the behaviour of serious sex offenders received praise from partner

agencies.”

Nearby Beds Police was told that it requires improvement in the inspection.
