£1.4m water network upgrades authorised in Aylesbury Vale addressing bursts

Anglian Water has announced it is investing £1.4 million to fund a 3.4km improvement project in the Aylesbury Vale area.

On Tuesday, work began on an installation project which will see new water pipes used on the water network between Granborough and North Marston.

This area has been subject to 13 bursts in the last five years, according to the provider’s data. Low water pressure has led to disruption in the area and it is hoped the pipes will be more reliable for local households and businesses.

Current projections from the company suggest the upgrades will be operational by spring of next year. Anglian Water revealed the project forms part of a wider scheme that has been described as the provider’s biggest renewal programme in over 20 years.

Further information released by the firm states that it has laid 145km of water mains, and during this financial year, it wants to increase that distance to 225km.

Anglian Water says it is using a ‘no dig’ installation scheme to complete the Aylesbury Vale project. This process allows the work to progress more quickly, while causing a lower environmental impact and less disruption to local residents and businesses, Anglian Water claims.
