Mortar bomb detonated in village near Aylesbury

Quite the explosive start to Wednesday for two Thames Valley Police officers!

The bomb was located in the quiet village of Quainton.

Just this morning, TVP officers PC Andrews and PC Trotman, accompanied by bomb disposal specialists helped detonate the bomb in a controlled environment.

The bomb was identified as a 81mm Mortar.

A Statement from TVP Aylesbury Vale said:

"Today started off with a bang for PC Andrews and PC Trotman!

"With the assistance from the bomb disposal team, they conducted a controlled explosion of an 81mm mortar that was located within Aylesbury.

"If you heard a loud explosion around the Quainton area there is nothing to worry about!"
