Parents, carers and grandparents are being encouraged to drop into their local children’s centre in Bucks between October 27 and November 7 to find out more about the services on offer.

The invite has been given out as part of Bucks County Council’s second annual Children’s Centre Week.

The aim of the week is to encourage people especially those with children under five to use children’s centres, but also recognise the great early years work being done with families to help them get their children school ready.

Children’s centres across the county involved in this year’s celebrations will be running a variety of special events and activities including a decorating the bus colouring competition, a stay and play all day and a family fun morning.

A ‘spot the bus’ competition will kick off the week of fun as the council’s mobile children’s centre bus tours the county from October 20 to November 7.

If you spot the bus, all you have to do is take a picture and send it along with your contact details to the Family Information Service (FIS) through Twitter (@Bucks_FIS), by messaging them on Facebook or by email to [email protected] with details of where and when you saw the bus.

All entries will be entered into a prize draw to win £50 worth of Love2Shop vouchers.

Mike Appleyard, county council cabinet member for education said: “The week is an ideal opportunity to promote the excellent services children’s centres provide for families in Buckinghamshire.

“The centres run a variety of services and activities for all families with children aged 0 to 5 years.

“They meet the needs of the most vulnerable and their families at the earliest opportunity, working together with other professionals to deliver easy access to the services when and where they are needed.

“So come along and enjoy some quality time together, learn new things and try out new activities.”
