BREAKING: M40 carriageway closed after fatal crash near Banbury

A driver has died on the M40 today (Friday) following a serious crash with a van and a lorry between junctions 11 (Banbury) and 12 (Gaydon).

The northbound carriageway is currently closed after police were called at 11.20am. The driver of the van has sadly died and a passenger in the van was taken to hospital.

Traffic cannot join at junction 11 and Thames Valley Police are diverting motorists, adding the diversion will remain in place for four hours.

The diversion in operation is via the A422 westbound and onto the B4100 Warwick Road northbound to rejoin the M40 at junction 12.
