Ronseal kicks starts a School Playground Revolution

TV carpenter Bruce Kenneth joins forces in a new competition

Schools which are struggling to keep, develop or maintain their outdoor spaces can win product, know-how and one lucky winner will have its own garden revolution.

Ronseal is stepping up its efforts to help everyone enjoy their outdoor spaces this summer, by launching a new competition that will help schools better maintain their outside spaces, and one UK primary school will have its own garden revolutionised.

Joining the well-known DIY brand in its quest to inspire the next generation of DIY’ers is Bruce Kenneth – Craftsman and presenter of The Great Garden Revolution – as well as members of the UK Men’s Shed Association.

Helping Ronseal revolutionise the winning garden will be members of The UK Men’s Shed Association. A long-term partner of Ronseal, The UK Men’s Shed Association has more than 500 sheds across the country which provide a safe and welcoming space for men to get together and talk, while supporting each other to complete DIY projects for their local communities.

Ronseal regularly invests in the wellbeing of the younger generation, and last year supported youth grassroots sports via its Ronseal Juniors programme. It’s latest initiative, which launched on Friday 17th June, taking inspiration from the last and final episode The Great Garden Revolution which aired last Saturday.  The programme features Staining Primary School, in Blackpool, which spurred Ronseal on to help other schools.

Speaking about the competition, Ronseal’s European Marketing Director, Jonathan Greeno said:

“We know how hard it is for schools to keep their outside spaces reinvigorated. And after seeing the profound impact this had on the Staining Primary School in this week’s episode we felt we had to do more.

“Our partnership with the UK Men’s Shed Association is something we’re fiercely proud of and through this initiative if we can further connect schools to their local sheds then, hopefully, we can share this load.

“We will be supplying products and know how to as many entrants as we can through this competition.  We’re delighted Bruce is joining us on our mission to transform our lucky winning garden ahead of the new term.”

Craftsman, Bruce Kenneth, adds: “It was amazing to see how the children got stuck into their project in The Great Garden Revolution and how they interacted with different elements of the garden we created. That is why I’m so excited to be involved and to offer another school across the country the chance to win a garden makeover too.

“I’m a massive advocate of the UK Men’s Shed Association too and building connections in communities through gardening and DIY is such a brilliant and growing phenomenon. We hope this initiative will be a catalyst for many more link ups.

“I’d encourage anyone with kids to get involved – watch the latest episode of the show to gain inspiration, then design your dream garden and submit it to the Ronseal website for your chance to win.”

Launching on Friday 17th June and running until 15th July 2022, Ronseal has partnered with Bruce Kenneth and The UK Men’s Shed Association to transform a UK school’s garden. Visit www.Ronseal.com for further information and to enter.
