Queens Park Arts Centre's summer programme of 'online arts classes' announced
Led by a variety of experienced tutors, the sessions will be hosted via Zoom and cover a range of artistic subjects including pottery, painting and drawing, abstract art and mixed crafts.
There are more than three dozen classes for young artists to choose from, with additional workshops for teenagers and adults also on sale.
All sessions are ideal for complete beginners as well as those with some experience. The Centre will be running its ‘Click & Collect’ service for specialist materials needed for some classes.
This service runs via a pop-up stall in the company’s car park and will be operated under social distancing guidelines, with collection slots booked in advance.
Speaking about the launch for the summer programme, Queens Park’s Artistic Director Sarah Lewis says: “We’ve received fantastic feedback from students of our first set of online workshops, so we’re delighted to be unveiling the next set of classes, which continue to help Queens Park maintain its ‘Arts for All’ ethos whilst the building remains closed”.
“In recent weeks Queens Park has announced various alterations to its programme as a response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Its Limelight Theatre will be taking a break from live
performance to establish a recording studio run by Unbound Theatre, and planning is underway to reopen the Centre for workshops this autumn.
“Our staff team are working incredibly hard to adapt our studio spaces, facilities and infrastructure to get our workshop programme back up and running,” says Sarah.
“Our primary concern is that we can run activities safely and respond to the latest government guidelines. Whilst there’ll be some significant changes to how we operate, we’re confident that we’ll be able to welcome the local community back to Queens Park soon. In the meantime the Centre continues to adapt and evolve to find new ways of encouraging and celebrating creativity.”
