Local School Gains Microsoft Showcase School Recognition

The Microsoft Showcase Schools program is a global community of pioneer schools from all around the world.

The program is an opportunity to expand education transformation using Microsoft tools and to create pupil-centred, immersive and inclusive experiences to inspire lifelong learning and to develop, future-ready skills in children.

In 2023, Beachborough Prep was accepted as an ‘Incubator School,’ a term used by Microsoft to categorise the primary stage of the project.

The requirements were measured across a whole year and Beachborough Prep had to demonstrate several factors, including how the school was meeting the needs of all pupils to recognise potential, how they intend to arm pupils with future-ready skills, how they plan their educational framework, how they have created a culture of learning and growth, how they are using data to drive decisions and, how they are measuring the impact of using Microsoft programs among the school community.

As part of the ongoing commitment to teaching and learning, all pupils in Year 7 and 8 are provided with a 2-in-1 Lenovo device.

The idea is that collaborative learning will take place on the OneNote program and pupils will be educated on how to use technology positively, responsibly and safely.

This will not replace traditional teaching methods of learning in the classroom but will allow for a blended approach, combining face-to-face and digital activities in a seamless and complementary flow of learning.

The school’s digital curriculum will deliver accessible and innovative learning experiences, allowing pupils to be fluent in a range of tools that enable them to express their understanding confidently and independently.

By assessing the latest technology and its integration with education, Beachborough Prep aims to harness innovative tools that enhance teaching and learning, empowering pupils with new and necessary skills.

This is an exciting time for Beachborough Prep.

The accolade of being awarded Microsoft Showcase School recognition is paying off and feedback from parents, pupils and teachers is positive.

Eighty per cent of pupils agreed that in the first term of using their personal laptops in the classroom, they believe their digital skills have improved.
