£2m Aylesbury High Street building up for auction ahead of potential flats conversion

A £2 million asking price has been placed on an Aylesbury High Street building which is up for auction this week.

Allsop is seeking bidders on units 25-29 Aylesbury High Street, located directly above TG Jones, when it goes up for auction on Thursday.

A winning bid would land the owner controlling rights to the first and second floors located directly above the stationary shop and post office.

The Bucks Herald reported at the start of last year that proposals had been submitted which would allow the unit to be turned into a cluster of flats.

Planning permission has now been granted allowing the new owner to open 17 apartments within the building. There is a separate planning application to expand proposals, which would allow a new owner to open 19 flats within the property.

Further sales information can be found regarding the building on Zoopla here. Much uncertainty surrounds the TG Jones store below the up-for-sale site.

Latest national reports suggest that 150 TG Jones stores could be set for closure. Financial experts have reported that Modella Capital’s purchase of WH Smith’s high street stores has not brought financial success with the decision to rebrand the stores under the TG Jones name seen as one of many issues the retailer is facing.

A lease agreement on the property is set to expire in August of next year, Allsop reveals. Estate agents have championed the central location of the property, noting nearby restaurants, shops, and a railway station less than a 10 minute walk away.
