"Total number of deaths of people whose death certificate mentioned COVID-19 as one of the causes, registered up to Friday, 25 September 2020.

"Provisional counts of the number of deaths registered in the UK where COVID-19 is mentioned as a cause on the death certificate. The deceased may not have had a confirmed positive test for COVID-19. People who had had COVID-19 but did not have it mentioned on their death certificate as a cause of death are excluded."

16,982 tested positive on Sunday October 18.

There are currently 5,608 patients in hospital with Coronavirus.

592 of them are on ventilators.

924 were admitted to hospital today.
