Spooky goings on

Plus a look forward to the annual art and craft fair at Queens Park Arts centre during the first weekend of November.

But first let’s remind ourselves about all the spooky goings-on to enjoy at the end of the half term holidays and over the Halloween weekend.

At the Green Dragon Rare Breeds Farm and Eco Centre in Hogshaw (pictured) Grace the dragon witch flies into the messy barn each day until Friday (October 28). A host of Halloween themed experiences and activities take place each day from 10am-6pm until Monday (October 31). Entrance to the farm is £7 for adults, £6 children, under twos free.

At Buckinghamshire Railway Centre there are special steam rides available today (Wednesday) and on Sunday (October 30). Visitors can take a ride on a full size steam train, ride the miniature steam railway, visit the museum and visitor centre and view the beautifully restored steam engines on display. Entrance id £11 for adults, £8 for children and free for under fives. A family ticket for two adults and up to four children costs £32.

The centre is also open for static viewing tomorrow (Thursday) but there will be no trains offering rides and the cafe will only be offering self service hot and cold drinks and snacks - but you are welcome to take picnics. Entrance tomorrow will cost £6 for adults, £4 for children, under fives free, and family ticket £17.

In Aylesbury town centre from 3-6pm tomorrow (Thursday) there will be loads of spooky free fun to be had in the Market Square courtesy of Aylesbury Town Council.

At Waddesdon Manor, Winnie the Witch, one of the nation’s best loved storybook characters, will join in the Halloween party on Saturday and Sunday (October 29 and 30). Entrance £3 per child (plus normal admission charges to Waddesdon).

Looking ahead to November, the fourteenth annual Queens Park Arts centre art and craft fair takes place from 10am-4pm on Saturday November 5.

This year’s event promises to be the biggest yet with pottery, jewellery, textiles, woodwork, glass and paintings providing the ideal opportunity to start some early Christmas shopping.

As well as the wide range of exhibitors, there will be creative art and craft activities for children to enjoy, and Santa will even be making a visit in his grotto.

Refreshments available will include home made cakes and a barbecue, with vegetarian option. Entrance to the fair is £2 and £1 for members and concessions.

Under 14s entry is free,but there will be a small charge for visiting Santa’s Grotto and attending the craft activities.
