Well-known covers band, The Dung Beatles, attracted hundreds of residents with their short notice show in Market Square.
It was the last leg of what has been called their Magical Mystery Trailer Tour which included performances in High Wycombe and Thame High Streets.
"All three performances are free, and the idea is essentially to bring live Beatles music directly into the town centres rather than putting on a conventional ticketed gig,” said music fan Jasmine Reed, who photographed the gigs in Aylesbury ahead of the three town centre shows.
Just one week earlier, on August 31, the band also played to hundreds of shoppers completing a secret gig at Friars Square Shopping Centre on the Bank Holiday Monday. They played songs off the Revolver album as well as some of the Beatles biggest hits to surprised shopping centre visitors.
Aylesbury Mayor, Councillor Sherrilyn Bateman, was among the people who could be seen dancing to the timeless hits.
During the Market Square set, founder of Aylesbury’s iconic Friars music scene, David Stopps was shaved bald for charity. David gave up all his hair to raise money for Red Balloon Learner Centres, with £1,154 going towards the not-for-profit service.
Oli Jeeves, a hairdresser from the Studio Svn shop in Haddenham was tasked with completing the shave.
It is estimated that around 500-600 people listened to the Dung Beatles’ take on the Liverpool band’s iconic 60s songs. Ticket giveaways for an upcoming homecoming gig for the Dung Beatles at the Waterside Theatre on October 16 was also arranged.
