Peaceful start to the summer at Aylesbury Vale

Musical fare from Haydn and Brahms to Dvorak and Handel is currently taking place around the Vale as Music in Quiet Places has returned for an 18th season.

Churches host the concerts directed by internationally renowned musician and conductor Robert Secret, as audiences enjoy a series of peaceful melodies to herald the start of summer.

And prior to each concert there is a walk around the village led by a local historian, with refreshments served at many of the locations.

The concerts are already in full swing, but still to come are the following.

Wonderful Schubert Masterpiece will be at the Church of St Michael and All Angels in Waddesdon on Saturday May 28. With clarinet, bassoon, horn, violin, viola, cello and double bass, the programme will include Schubert’s Octet in F major D.803.

Golden Music from the Baroque is at the Church of St Mary the Virgin in Mursley on Saturday June 18.

With violin, viola, cello and harpsichord the progamme will include Purcell’s Golden Sonata and music by Handel, Bach and Corelli.

Mr Secret has studied at the Royal Academy of Music and in Holland and Switzerland.

He has worked with the English Chamber Orchestra and performed before Princess Benedikte of Denmark.

All concerts start at 7.30pm, all guided walks start from the relevant church at 6.30pm.
