Kent and Diane aim to raise a Saturday smile

AWARD-winning comedians Kent Valentine, above, and Diane Spencer, below, will perk up the hardest of weeks when they take to the stage at the Old Town Hall in Hemel on Saturday.

Ozzie born and a natural raconteur Kent is very good at telling stories that are full of jokes.

In 2010 the Australian comic, who is currently based in the UK, won the Comedy Award and the LA Fringe Award for International Performer at the Hollywood Fringe Festival.

He was also nominated for Best Comedy at the Buxton Fringe, and the Australian Comedy Review Critics’ Award at the Melbourne Comedy Festival.

2011’s breakout comedy star Diane Spencer also has a clutch of prizes.

The former Loughborough University drama student who emigrated to New Zealand upon graduation was a nominee for the New Zealand Comedy Guild Best Newcomer 2007 and Best Female Comedian 2009, and now back in the UK is the winner of the Chortle Awards Best Newcomer 2011.

The Guardian describes her as ‘winsome and devilish’.
