Console Corner: Exciting word on the Street

Just when you thought the Street Fighter franchise was dead, legendary Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono surprises everyone by confirming it will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One.

The latest, and what many thought may be the last Street Fighter – Super Street Fighter IV Ultra Edition – recently landed on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

But there has been some fantastic news for fans of the global fight favourite in the form of a simple reply from Ono to a gamer on Twitter.

Responding to the question of whether Street Fighter would be coming out on Xbox One or PS4 in the future, Ono tweeted: “Hahaha, some time or other... :P”

But the news is not so great for Wii U gamers. He later told another fan: “I apologize that we don’t have plan for wii U.”

Capcom has yet to talk in detail about plans for the next Street Fighter, but has previously shrugged off rumours that Street Fighter V will adopt a pay-to-win model designed to encourage beginners.

“The SFV news [in June] about a pay to win model is not accurate and isn’t something we’re planning for,” Ono tweeted in June.

“Sorry for the confusion! We’re still in early planning stages and will share more at a later date.”

In other news, 4J Studios recently announced on its own Twitter account that it will be delaying the launch of the PlayStation 4 version of its hit video game Minecraft.

The company said that the game failed to pass certification from Sony as the latter has found new bugs that require immediate attention. Before the announcement, 4J has since advised the game’s fans that Minecraft would be released for the consoles in August.

But the delay didn’t keep Minecraft fans – who can join up to six friends playing online – waiting long to get their hands on the cult game as it was eventually released on Playstation 4 on Thursday and is available to download for £12.99.
