Liverpudlian Victoria Jones stars as Cilla (pictured above, photo by Rhian Cox) and celebrates the career of the popular singer and television presenter, together with the music of some of her contemporaries. The musical stage show for families and pop music fans of all ages takes the audience on a journey starting with the discovery of the teenage singer, Cilla Black at Liverpool’s famous Cavern Club and presents many of the biggest hits by artists who changed the world of popular entertainment and music in the 1960s including Cilla, Dusty, Lulu, Tina Turner, the Beatles and more. Music at Lunchtime, The Church of St Mary the Virgin, Aylesbury, 12.45pm tomorrow (Thursday)

Emmanuel Bach, violin, and Jenny Stern, piano, with a programme including Enescu’s Sonata in popular Romanian style. This is framed by Beethoven’s E flat Sonata op 12/3 and the virtuoso Fantasy brillante on themes from Rossini’s Otello. Admission £4, 18s and under free.

Chipperfield Choral Society Spring Concert, King’s Church, Raans Road, Amersham, 7.30pm Saturday March 10

The society perform Bach Magnificat and Vivaldi Gloria. The Magnificat is one of Bach’s best loved choral works, full of rousing choruses and beautiful melodies. A sense of exultation is evident throughout, tempered with modesty and awe as the audience experiences Bach’s sublime setting of the joyous words of the Magnificat. The Vivaldi Gloria is frequently paired with the Magnificat. The Gloria is a joyful hymn of praise divided into 12 relatively brief movements which range from festive brilliance to profound sadness. From lilting soprano solos to solemn choral singing, this is a masterclass in choral writing supported by tender, lovely countermelodies played variously by the violin or the oboe. Bucks Genealogical Society, Southcourt Community Centre, Prebendal Avenue, Aylesbury, 2pm Saturday March 10

Colonel David Chilton will present a talk entitled David Williams, Man Who Never Was. This is a talk about tracing a man who fought and died for his country, but was never born, not in that name. He is not the only ancestor to drop out of the sky like this. Doors open at 2pm for research advice and chat. The AGM is at 2.20pm followed by the talk at 2.45pm. BGS members free, non members welcome £1. Refreshments will be available following the talk for a small charge.
