Tring men share a six-goal thriller with Sonning II

However, the second half was a different story, with Tring fighting back to take the lead aided by a brace from their centre-forward.

After such a spirited recovery, it was a shame that Sonning levelled with the last touch of the game, but it was another encouraging performance from Tring nonetheless.

Elsewhere, it was another week and another single goal defeat as Tring 2s went down 1-0 against Ashford 3s.

Tring’s quick forwards created problems against the Ashford defence but, despite several excellent chances and even hitting the post, Tring couldn’t break through.

The Tring men’s super vets, meanwhile, travelled to Reading to play what turned out to be a strong team who were clinical in the D and determined in midfield.

The final score was 5-2 to Reading but it was a hard fought game with Tring attacking to the end.

In action elsewhere, the Tring ladies’ first team played a fantastic game of hockey on Saturday, drawing 2-2 against a very strong and skilful Blueharts team.

Tring bagged two excellent goals, one for Jenny Wrench and one for Jenny Pyburn, while special mentions go to Lizzie Jack who played some special hockey and to Charlotte Towler who had her best match to date.

Last but not least, the ladies 2s were pleased to report a 2-1 win on Saturday against St Albans Bodiceas.

The entire team played very well, with Lottie Woodall and Jenny Stokes scoring the goals.

Greg Edwards has agreed to coach the 2s on match days, and has made an immediate impact. Next week the side take on West Herts away in Watford
