Runners treated to glorious conditions at the Tring parkrun

There was definitely a summer feeling in Tring Park as the sun shone on the parkrunners at the weekend.

Congratulations go to newcomer Michael Burke who took the honour of being the 1,400th individual to run at the Tring Park event.

Michael was one of 105 runners this week and last week’s young feel continued with a new record of 24 per cent of the field being under 18.

An impressive 31 runners recorded PBs this week, and special mention for the regulars showing the biggest improvement including Finn Bell (2 mins 41 secs), his sister Hatty Bell (1 min 42 secs) and Ben Thorn (56 secs).

At the business end of the run, Stephen Buckle of St Albans Striders was the first finisher for the second week in a row. His Striders team-mate Mark Castleton was second with a PB, and Tom North of Gade Valley Harriers came home in third.

For the ladies, junior Hatty Bell of Wycombe Phoenix Harriers was the first lady home, followed by Tracey Cotton, with Hatty’s mum Heather close behind. All three ladies achieved PBs.

For the juniors, Finn Bell, Edward Lee and Luke Parker were the first junior finishers, with Hatty, Izzi Bidlake-Hull and Hannah Knight being the fastest female juniors.
