Record-breaking season comes to a close for D&T

With the 2015 track and field season at a close, Dacorum & Tring AC’s record books have been updated to show that 26 new club records on the track were achieved during the indoor and outdoor seasons.

With one record equalled, and another 14 road running records broken, the club’s athletes have set an incredible 41 records in the year to date.

The U17 team was the most successful in 2015, with 12 new records and one equalled record.

Sprint star Dom Ashwell scored three new records (60m indoors, 100m and 200m) while Chenna Okoh smashed the 400m record; the two also combined with Jackson Cowans and Ben Collins to post a new club best in the 4x100m relay.

Dom remains the top U17 sprinter in the UK for 100m with his time of 10.57s, while Chenna, in his first year in U17, has the 11th fastest 400m time in the country.

Rhys Rowlands, Grace Birdseye and Emily Higgins all came away with new club steeplechase records, while Jess O’Sullivan grabbed a new pole vault record and Olive Coles posted a fabulous new 800m record. Rhys also took a new club record in the U17 men’s 5km on the road.

Zoe Williams smashed the club record in the U17 women’s pentathlon while Amber Carroll equalled a long-standing club best in the 300m hurdles.

The other standout squad this season was the U13 girls’ team, many of whom recorded dozens of PBs over the season.

Tia Stonehouse (javelin, pentathlon and 60m hurdles) and Milly Gall (long jump) stand out for their new club records which rank them highly in the UK standings. Milly currently stands seventh in the UK for long jump, while Tia is eighth in the javelin.

Philly Lowe (400m and 400m hurdles), Alex Eykelbosch (5km) and Sarah Grover (1,500m/2,000m steeplechase) each posted new club all-time bests for the senior women’s track team, while Jack Parlsow broke a long-standing 3,000m record and Andy Cracknell smashed his own club best time in the marathon for the senior men.

Philly’s 400m hurdles time of 58.50s ranks her ninth overall in the UK.

Amy Wright, Leah Moh and Maddie Perry picked up new records for the U15 team – in the hammer and 5km, respectively – while Ellie Thompson (pole vault) and Brittany Salt (5km) won new club bests for the U20 women’s squad.

The club’s veteran athletes have also broken a total of 12 records in 2015, with Catherine Davies taking three new records, and Ken Perry and Stephen Shaw each taking two new club bests on the road.

Trevor Ratcliffe, John Garner and Richard Emptage scored new field records, in javelin and long jump respectively, while Heidi Greaves (marathon) and Samantha Sullivan (10k) also posted new club bests.
