Plenty of new personal bests for team Tring at MK Spring Open meet

A number of Tring swimmers achieved big breakthrough performances at the Central Milton Keynes Spring Open Meet.

The most pleasing results came from Emma Killen and Brianna Mazey (1:08.67) who burst through the 70-second 100m freestyle barrier for the first time – Emma in a particularly impressive time of 1:06.71.

It was fantastic weekend for Brianna, with five PBs in total as her excellent backstroke and freestyle technique is now beginning to translate into very promising butterfly and breaststroke swims.

Three swimmers who have trained very hard recently made big leaps forward in a number of events, all achieving four PBsfrom four swims.

Thomas Monks clocked a five-second PB in the 100m freestyle in 1:15.34, showing what a promising future he has in the pool.

Cara Mitchell also achieved four personal bests out of four, and looks really promising in both breaststroke and butterfly. Her 100m fly was a particularly good swim in a 16-second PB of 1:37.63, managing to surprise herself in such a tough event.

There were also big steps forward for the rapidly-improving Rosie Cave, who managed a 10-second PB in the 100m freestyle in 1:23.72.

The highlight of the weekend was the 100m freestyle event in which eight of Tring’s nine swimmers achieved a PB.

Strong swims came from Aliesha Mazey (1:13.40), Marcia Billingham (1:14.92), Ed Birch (1:18.05), Millie Farrance (1:25.71), Kiera Wharton (1:36.55), Daisy Lang (1:39.29), and Lauren Egan (1:46.14).
