Plenty of medals for the Dacorum & Tring Road Runners

Dacorum & Tring AC Road Runners were in action all over the south-east at the weekend, scoring a host of medals and top placings while achieving numerous personal bests.

The veteran ladies’ team of Alison Richardson, Catherine Davies, Samantha Sullivan and Wendy Pearson finished a brilliant second overall in the Hertfordshire Veterans Cross Country Championships, held at Trent Park in Enfield.

All four ladies finished well within the top-20, with Davies in fourth place overall, Sullivan in eighth, Pearson in 10th and Richardson in 16th.

Davies also won bronze in the VF45 age group, while Sullivan and Pearson picked up silver and bronze respectively in the V35 age group.

Meanwhile, at the Vitality Reading Half Marathon, Jamie Marlow ran a controlled 1:35:51 to cross the line first for the club.

Next was Keith Wishart in a new PB of 1h 41m, followed by Carline Smart with another PB of 1h 52m in only her second half marathon, while Debbie Kennard smashed her previous best by a whopping 13 minutes to finish in 1h 53m.

Over in Welwyn Garden City, Louise Tainsh, Erica Klein and Anya Higgins competed in the inaugural Welwyn Half Marathon, while teammates Manon Pagniez and Becky Fawcett signed up as race marshals.

Klein had a fine race, finishing in 1:56:44, with Tainsh not far behind in 2:10:14 and Higgins cruising to a 2.12.39 finish.

Elsewhere, a hardy group of spring marathoners took on the GVH 20-miler: Russell Morris, Vicky Thornley, Steve Russell, Chris Kitchener, Rob Deane, Louisa Hopper, Jess Tanner and Esther Hamilton.
