Metcalfe is looking to race an Audi R8 GT3 in Belgium, a car which has been one of the leading GT cars on the track, boasting multiple race wins around the world.

A deal is close to being concluded which would see the former Caterham Vauxhall and TVR Tuscan competitor line-up at the wheel of the Audi in races including the Spa 24 Hours – the feature race of the Intercontinental GT Challenge.

Metcalfe is already set to race in the ‘Road to Le Mans’ race in June, part of the Le Mans Cup series, and his Audi drives are set to be part of a parallel race schedule.

“We have been working hard for our ‘To Le Mans and Back’ project to reach a point where we actually compete at Le Mans,” he explained.

“There have been many hurdles along the way, but we are close to formally launching our attack there for 2020 and 2021.

“This latest development will allow us to take in other events in the UK and Europe.”

He added: “Racing at Le Mans has always been the priority throughout the development of this project, but we now have the chance to look at other events too, such as the famous Spa 24 Hours.”

Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, home to the Belgian Grand Prix, is regarded as one of the world’s finest race tracks.

“Spa is a track I really enjoy driving at,” Metcalfe said.

“To have the opportunity to drive in the 24 hours there in a GT3 car is something I would really like to do, and along with others are in the process of making it possible for this summer.”
