Reader’s nostalgia: Calvert rail station
Thank-you to Pam Talbot for the above photo of Calvert Station taken in 1955 when her father, Reginald Swan was the station master.
Mr Swan, who had the job from 1955 to 1961, is pictured below outside the station master’s house.
The last passenger train called at Calvert in 1966.
However, the line is still used to transport rubbish to the landfill there.
Passenger trains will again whizz by when the East-West railway is opened in 2019.
