It has been a busy but successful few weeks for the Vale of Aylesbury Athletics Club as the cross country season draws to a close and serious training for this year’s outdoor events builds momentum.

There have been a lot of indoor track meetings in recent weeks, with Andrew Rolt competing at Lee Valley where he ran a mile in 4.55.32mins, which is a new club record and puts him third in the Power of 10 V45 rankings of all-time.

Another Aylesbury athlete to enjoy recent success is youngster Max Perry, who won the Bucks Schools XC Championships as a first year in his age group. As a result, Max has now been selected to run for the Buckinghamshire in the English Schools Championships along with Harri Kane and Sarah Shepherd.

Christian von Eitzen and Alice Wright have been selected to run for Oxfordshire.

The Inter-County Cross Country Championships take place at the beginning of March at Cofton Park, Birmingham, and the club are pleased to report that four of their athletes have been selected to run for Bucks. They are 20-year-old Patrick Taylor, U17s Harri Kane and Sarah Shepherd, and U13 Max Perry. Christian will be competing in the U20 race for Oxfordshire.

Finally, Chloe Oldfield ran a personal best time in a 5k race in Hyde Park at the end of January. Her time of 18.24mins is a seven second improvement on her previous best and she is now focused on beating the club record.
