Bucks Hornets U18s went into the Christmas break top of the East Conference section of the National League following a 106-62 win over Harlow Hawks.
Harlow made a quick start to lead by eight points, but Hornets hit back with a succession of steals and fast break points to put them up by 26 points to 21 at the end of the opening quarter.
A strong display from Tom Edwards then helped Bucks build on their advantage as they applied consistent pressure and dominated the remainder of the game to finish with a comfortable victory by 44 points.
Josh Hughes, playing up from the U16s, had a fine game while Huw Dalkin was making his U18s debut.
Coach Lee McCarthy said: “We had a very slow start but I was pleased to see the boys respond after an early time-out.
“David Forsyth led by example and gave a true captain’s performance, which he started off with an ‘and 1’ dunk over the Hawks. This was the catalyst we needed to get going. Hornets’ priority now is to keep in shape over Christmas and work hard to ensure they start the New Year in game shape.”
Elsewhere, the U16 boys lost 56-45 away to Southend Scorpions, but previous form ensured they held second spot in the East Conference U16 Division going in to the Christmas break.
Playing in the Midlands South Division, the U14 girls hold a five point advantage at the top after winning 79-37 away to City of Birmingham, while the U14 boys also top their league despite losing 41-34 away to Southend Swifts.
