This year’s Boxing Day 5k race through the streets of Aylesbury, organised by Vale of Aylesbury Athletic Club and sponsored by Up & Running Aylesbury, will start as usual from the Kingsbury Public House in Kingsbury Square.
There will be an U13 800m event at 9.25am followed by the main event at 9.45am. Visit the club’s website at www.voaac.org.uk for full details and to register in advance. Application forms for both events can be downloaded..
Entry for the junior event is £3 and for the 5k £8 or £10 unattached. Entry on the day will incur an additional cost of £1.
Meanwhile, Vale’s juniors enjoyed a winning weekend with a clutch of medals from two different events.
On Saturday, six of Aylesbury’s Kestrels visited the Lee Valley Athletics Centre to take part in a Minithon and all six came away with medals.
Ffion Mabey won the U9 event overall, including a 200m victory in 37.8secs, while William Ratcliffe won both his 200m and 600m. Ben, Cai and James were competing for the first time in the boys’ Year 4 and 5 event and had a fantastic day as did Hannah Mabey.
Vale also won a team bronze at a sportshall event. On the individual front, Oliver Power was overall winner in two events, including speed bounce, while Curtis Brown threw the javelin so far that it hit the wall at the far and and bounced back!
