Champions of the Frank Mitchell Trophy from 2013, Bucks CC C, from Division Two, beat the challenge of their B team to move into this year’s quarter-finals.
Paul Brown, Martin Gillett and Rod Payne proved too solid for David Bradbury, Dave Shapter and Amit Srivastava and needed only eight of their 54-point advantage to win.
They will next meet Division Three side Risborough A, who squeezed through by one point against Haddenham D. The win came courtesy of an excellent performance from Dave Stevens, who was too strong for Haddenham trio John Cripps, Simon Witney and Rodney Browne.
The Premier Division has two representatives in the quarter-finals. They are Haddenham A, who beat down Sports F by 15 points, and Sports A, who made light of the 298 points start afforded to Risborough B to win by 36 points.
However, Sports B came undone by the brilliance of 13-year-old James George from Tring D. The youngster displayed supreme maturity way beyond his years to stave off Tim Cheek and Biao Wang and even to take a leg off Gerald Ridgway as he won 74 crucial points for his team.
