Bucks Hornets U18s recorded their ninth win from 10 games this season when they beat Oxford Hoops 77-51 in the East Conference of the National Basketball League.
The game got off to a tense start as the two U18 teams traded blows before, in the second quarter. Ashton Linney caught fire and drained three pointers repeatedly, scoring five from six attempts.
Hornets played a team game with passing being central to their success. Other notable results came from Andrew Forsyth and Tom Edwards, who performed strongly under the basket.
Hornets out-scored the opposition in every quarter and finished the game clinically to underline their superiority.
Coach Lee McCarthy said: “Hornets performed really well after struggling in the first quarter. The team really rallied after Linney started hitting three pointers.”
Linney top scored with 25 points.
Elsewhere, Hornets U16 boys also beat the Hoops, 56-42, while the U14 boys suffered a 68-59 defeat to Brentwood Fire, but the U14 girls were victorious against Leicester Warriors, winning 67-32.
