The fourth round of this season’s Cross Country League was held at the challenging Campbell Park course on a blustery day in Milton Keynes.
An earlier torrential downpour made for a soggy course, but the two Bearbrook teams impressed with the men finishing fifth and the ladies seventh.
First home for the ladies was the in-form Lisa Jay as she crossed the finish line in 24th place and was followed by the returning Maria Russell in 33rd.
Next back was Anna Fryer (46th) and Deborah Martin continued her good form by finishing 46th, followed by Laura Kimpton (56th) and Lisa Ripley (57th). Also putting in determined performances were Jo Horton, Jill Grey, Sarah Corcoran and Pat Banert.
As for the men, first Bearbrook runner home was Wes Trigg, who came 15th, while Owen Byrne (18th) and Martin Crane (34th) also enjoyed the tricky conditions.
There was not much between the next three runners with Richard Barcock 50th Ian Higginson 54th and James Powell 56th, before Dermot Martin was 72nd and Simon Allen 99th.
Frazer Glew, Paul Cherry and John Horton were next to finish followed by Brendan Cradden. Close on his heels was Colin Powell, with Warren Reid and Graham Sanders completing the Bearbrook squad.
