The second set was very close – Katy led 5-4 with two set points – but world number 118 Rachel Hogenkamp fought back to claim the victory.

Hogenkamp went on to win her next match 6-2, 6-2 to qualify for the main draw of the world’s most famous tennis tournament, which gets under way on Monday.

Hemel Hempstead ace Katy, 20, has now moved back to train in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire with Gosling Tennis Academy and Halton Tennis Centre.
