Juniors flourishing at Tring parkrun as Jonty shines in the sun

This Saturday saw an impressive turnout of 111 parkrunners tackling the hot and humid conditions at Tring Park.

At the front of the field it really was a day for the juniors, with Jonty Wager-Leigh finishing in second with a time of 19:16, followed by James Bailey in fourth with a new PB of 21:19.

First female home was also a junior as Scarlett Wager-Leigh came in with a time of 22:34.

A total of 19 juniors competed this weekend, including Rex Evans who was completing his first parkrun. Lucas Maguire, William Verrinder and Poppy Wager-Leigh all set PBs.

Rounding off the top-three for the men was James Davis from the Vale of Aylesbury AC who was first over the line in a time of 17:56. This was his 10th first place out of 16 appearances.

Tom North of Gade Valley Harriers finished in third place in 20:18, while second placed female was Amanda Doran in 24:15, followed closely by Sophie Evans of Tring RC in 24:51.

A large group from St Albans Striders visited Tring, including Ben Scott who was notching up his 115th parkrun.

This week there were 27 new PBs set, including regular Tring parkrunners David Leybourne, Gary Evans and Eleanor Dinnadge who all achieved some pretty hefty improvements. Keith Stonestreet also continued his streak of PBs with his sixth in a row – he has now knocked 6 minutes 34 seconds off his first time at Tring.
