It’s 51 and counting for the Tring men after yet another win

The weather was against Tring, the journey was difficult, and the umpires produced some baffling calls, but Tring triumphed against this adversity – and some indiscipline – to take all three points.

Elsewhere, the men’s 2s went goal-crazy as they thumped Bourton & Sherbourne 2s 12-0 to put an emphatic end to their losing run.

Tring kept up their intensity throughout, breaking up the opposition’s play and scoring regularly to rack up the mammoth scoreline.

The men’s 3s earned a 1-1 draw in a physical game away to Aylesbury.

Mark Dolton scored in the first minute on his debut as Tring started brightly. However, Aylesbury had a few wise heads and they muscled their way back into the game to equalise towards the end of the first half.

Nigel Woodall then went off injured and the Tring youngsters had to demonstrate their versatility to fill the gap in defence – with Phil Marriott, Owen Hillair-Brady and Alex Walters performing well.

Tring pressed forward in the second half but couldn’t put the game to bed, and keeper Harry Evans had to make several fine saves when Aylesbury broke.

The Tring Vets unfortunately came up short against Shefford and Sandy in the second round of the national trophy.

Despite being level at 2-2 at half-time with goals from Simon Cobby and Andy Aikins, Tring were unable to match their superb performance in the second half and lost 5-2 at the final whistle.

Elsewhere, the Tring ladies’ first team continued to add to their points tally as, fighting hard and digging deep, they earned a solid 2-2 draw against Letchworth 2s.

There were some great passages of play throughout but the individual goal by Lizzie Jack was inspirational, and she was named player of the match. Next up, the team meet local rivals Berkhamsted at the Tring Astroturf.

Last but not least, Tring 2s beat Letchworth 3s 1- 0 at home. Bethan Davies’ single goal was set up well by Bea Park, while Jenny Pyburn provided excellent support to the attacks from her wing-back position.
