Aylesbury United Youth U18s suffered their first league loss since November at home this weekend as travelling side and fellow title chaser, Ruislip Rangers ran out 3-1 winners.
United could have taken an early lead but striker Bill Williment was unable to find the target after the ball dropped to his feet having bounced off the bar from Miles Bridgeman’s long-range shot.
Aylesbury’s missed opportunity proved costly as the away side took the lead midway through the first half through a powerfully struck half-volley from distance.
The Ducks responded immediately, with centre-back and club captain Alex Little venturing forward and running onto a perfectly weighted through ball by Oli Yeowart, before finding the top corner.
Aylesbury entered the break in high spirits as a result but returned from half-time a different side to the one which in the opening 45 minutes.
The Ducks were on the back foot for most of the second half, and with ten minutes to play Ruislip finally took advantage when claiming a deserved second goal.
Ruislip then extended their lead to 3-1 in the final seconds of the game after the Ducks were caught out with too many players forward pushing for an equalising goal.
Aylesbury play again this Sunday as they travel to Martin Baker Youth.
