Aylesbury Dynamos ended the first half of the Aylesbury & District Football League season unbeaten after a 4-1 victory over AFC Victoria.
Goals from Matty Logan, Taz Ashall, Steve Lindsey and Toby Cresswell sealed victory for the Dynamos, who are two points behind leaders Walton Court Wanderers at the top of the Premier Division.
Walton ensured they stay top for Christmas with a 3-1 win over Long Marston after goals from Pat Callaghan, Sami Ashraf and Shaukat Awan.
Haddenham Utd moved third by beating Elmhurst 3-2 away – Adam Krol and Dave Daley scoring – while Bucks CC kept in touch with a 3-1 win at Pond Park Rangers.
In-form Berko Sports also won when a Wilf Whittaker hat-trick inspired them to a 9-1 win over Downley Albion.
In Division One, Longwick got themselves back into the promotion mix by thrashing FC Spandits 7-1, Luke Norris with three goals, and Bedgrove Utd finished the year on a high with a 2-1 win at Northchurch.
In Division Two, Quainton beat Rivets 4-2 in a mid-table clash as both teams struggle for consistency. Goals from Lee Davis and James Mabudi were cancelled out by Jodean Horwood, Carl Gunning, Sam Beckett and Luke Beckett.
In Division Three, Rivets Sports Reserves ended Ludgershall Reserves’ six-game unbeaten run as a Dan Fox strike and an own goal saw them win 2-0. Despite that, Tring Town Amateurs go into Christmas five points clear at the top.
Further down, Waddesdon beat Quainton Reserves 3-0 to keep up their outside chances of a promotion slot as Andy George, Louse Decretters and Adam Chambers all netted. There was also some festive cheer for Wendover Reserves, who beat Wingrave Reserves 2-1 thanks to Paul Jones and a late Luke Curnick penalty.
FC Mandeville Reserves have opened up a five-point lead at the top of Division Four following a 5-1 win over promotion rivals Tetworth Reserves. Luke Trewavs bagged a brace and Kris Byrnes, Brad Bunce and Elliot Edwards all scored once.
Elsewhere, Bedgrove Dynamos Reserves beat bottom side Tring Titans Reserves 2-0 following goals from Luke Russell and Hash Khalil, while Great Milton and Bedgrove Utd Reserves drew 1-1.
In the Sheffield Jackman Cup, five teams made through to the quarter-finals. Holders Wingrave crashed out to a side from a division below as Tetsworth won 3-1 with Chris Appleby, Jimmy Riley and Tony Beechers netting.
Dave Brown, Mike Brown, Mike Harper and Rob Jolly booked APR’s spot in the quarters with a 4-2 win over Oving, while Long Crendon continue to wobble as they crashed out 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw with Ludgershall.
FC Mandeville were runners-up last season and they ended in-form Aylesbury Sports’ run with an impressive 5-3 triumph. Steve Keating and Stuart Creaser both scored twice with John Sullivan netting the other.
One of the favourites to win the competition are Wendover and they received a bye as Stone Magnets St Johns failed to raise a side.
Finally, holders Long Marston Reserves thumped Oving Reserves 8-0 in the ADL Reserve Cup.
Meanwhile, in the Aylesbury Sunday Combination, Two Touch moved six points clear after Sean Coles hit a brace in their 6-2 win over Weavers Warriors, while Bucks FC are third as they beat AYFCs 6-3, Ray Long and Jimmel James with two apiece.
