Tyrone Taylor’s late goal – his fourth in five games – proved the winner for what was a deserved victory following an enterprising and energetic performance from the Ducks against Leamington.

In the second half in particular, Leamington had United forced back, yet it remained the visiting keeper who was the busiest with Aylesbury counter attacking effectively.

Taylor’s winner earns United a quarter-final home tie against Potters Bar which takes place next Wednesday.

Before that, Aylesbury face a crucial league match when they visit fellow relegation strugglers Hanwell Town in a Southern League Division One Central clash this weekend.

Aylesbury FC, meanwhile, face a hectic schedule over the next month or so following a series of postponements.

The Moles have managed just one league game since the turn of the year – a 4-2 defeat to Rushden & Diamonds – with the latest postponement coming on Saturday when their scheduled clash at Godalming Town was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch.

Steve Bateman’s side now have a busy few weeks coming up, starting with Saturday’s home game against Arlesey.

That’s followed by a trip to Bedford Town before games against St Ives (Feb 20), Petersfield (Feb 23), Uxbridge (Feb 27), Fleet (March 1) and Potters Bar Town (March 5).

The local derby against rivals United is set to take place on March 22 having been rearranged for a third time.
